2013年9月21日，我院劉樹生教授收到美國加州大學(xué)戴維斯分校（UC Davis）植物生物系主任、法國科學(xué)院院士William John Lucas教授的來信，告知他由該校植物生物系、植物病理系、昆蟲學(xué)系聯(lián)合申報(bào)邀請他前往講學(xué)的UC Davis Storer Lectureship已獲批準(zhǔn)，對他表示祝賀，期望他接受邀請于2014年春前往該校講學(xué)，并希望通過講學(xué)促進(jìn)雙方建立長期的實(shí)質(zhì)性合作。劉樹生教授已欣然接受邀請，計(jì)劃于2014年春前往UC Davis講學(xué)。
UC Davis擁有國際頂尖的生命科學(xué)和農(nóng)業(yè)科學(xué)學(xué)科群，也是浙江大學(xué)力爭加強(qiáng)交流與合作的國際名校之一。Storer Lectureship是UC Davis校方管理的最具影響力的著名學(xué)者講座系列，每年邀請數(shù)位在其學(xué)術(shù)領(lǐng)域造詣高深的生物學(xué)家，每位到該校舉行兩個(gè)學(xué)術(shù)講座，并與該校相關(guān)領(lǐng)域的師生面對面互動交流。以往受邀的學(xué)者包括生物學(xué)和醫(yī)學(xué)領(lǐng)域的諾貝爾獎獲得者、美國科學(xué)院院士和其他著名學(xué)者。據(jù)Lucas教授和該校植物病理系Robert L. Gilbertson教授介紹，劉樹生教授課題組近年在入侵生物學(xué)、媒介昆蟲-病毒-植物互作方面的前沿研究，在國際學(xué)術(shù)界產(chǎn)生了重要影響，并已被該校相關(guān)課程作為典型案例用于教學(xué)。
